Rehabilitation involves the process by which you work to reduce pain or regain function after an injury, illness, or surgery. Rehabilitation exercises are an important part of overall recovery to help restore strength, range of motion, and endurance.

How can sports rehabilitation help?

The overall goal of rehab exercises is to restore your former activity level and strength. Rehabilitation exercises are also crucial for preventing future injuries.

Rehabilitation exercises

Often after the first session we will give gentle stretching exercises for you to take home and perform.

Stretching can be an effective way to increase flexibility and range of motion in all of the extremities. Patients with joint and muscle issues, such as the ankle, knee, hip, neck, shoulder, elbow, and wrist can begin to restore movement and alleviate pain.

Sports Rehabilitation programmes

Rehabilitation programmes are also effective for building strength gradually throughout the entire body. As you progress, we will work through exercises designed to be more challenging to restore your physical goal.

Here at Savage Sports therapy we can provide and advise you on what equipment you need to achieve this. We often use resistance bands as a progression to increase resistance and help you strengthen specific muscles.

Some of the common issues we see are:

  • Glute weakness
  • Pelvic instability
  • Ankle instability
  • Scaular weakness in the shoulders
  • Postural changes
  • Poor gait
